Blog Tour of the Inevitable Series by Janet Nissenson -- REVIEW

Before you go through my review of Serendipity, let me warn you...it's not that pleasant. I found lots of things that I didn't like about the book, and I will tell you about them. BUT I didn't hate the book. Overall, It's still good. I would still recommend it to everyone, even only to set the foundations for the following installments.

Title: Serendipity (Inevitable #1)
Author: Janet Nissenson
Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Publication Date: December 10, 2013

SYNOPSIS:
Was meeting again an unfortunate twist of fate? Or was it just serendipity?

Julia McKinnon was convinced she’d found the one – the man of her dreams, the most seductive, experienced lover she’d ever known – and the night they’d spent together in New York was the stuff erotic fantasies were spun from. But with the dawn of a new day came only heartache and betrayal, and her dreams were snuffed out like so much fairy dust.

Nathan Atwood felt like the lowest sort of life form after seducing the incredibly beautiful girl he met in New York, only to break her tender heart with the confession that he was already involved with someone else. Leaving Julia was the hardest thing he’d ever done, and the memory of their passionate night together haunted his dreams for months afterwards.

Now fate has brought them together again, and they are forced to work alongside each other. Will Julia be able to put aside the feelings she still has for her handsome boss and forge a new life for herself in San Francisco? And how long will Nathan be able to resist the gorgeous woman he’s never really stopped thinking about or wanting?

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Nathan Atwood is a selfish, cheating, insensitive SOB. (Yep. I hate him.) He got tired of living a bachelor life so he decided to propose to his she-devil girlfriend. Then he cheats on her with our heroine, leaves her to go back to his fiancee, treats said heroine like crap when they met again, stops her from being happy, then sleeps with her again while he's still engaged!

Julia McKinnon is a sweet, confident, talented, and gullible woman. She believed, from the first time they saw each other on a sidewalk, that Nathan is the one. She got hurt, then she got hurt some more, then she just became a ball of pain. One that can't say "No" to Nathan's advances.

REVIEW:
Is it that obvious that I wasn't fan of these two people? Actually, that's a lie. I hate Nathan, and Julia...not so much. Let me be clear that the whole serendipity thing was quite engaging. I just really had a huge issue with the lead characters. First of all, I'm not a fan of cheating, so that already turned me off. But then Nathan got worse by going through with his engagement because it would be "unfair" to his fiancee. Two things I screamed inside my head: 1st, "That beyotch is a nightmare! Why do you want to be with her?!" 2nd, "You don't think cheating on her is unfair?! And you even kept the underwear of the woman you cheated with!!" Okay. Enough about that. I think I've delivered my message loud and clear. Another thing that I found a bit...unrealistic, is the male characters' (Nathan, Jake, other guy) knowledge of fashion items. It's just that I don't know many men who can recall in detail what a woman wore. So yeah, I was a bit taken aback by that. Lastly, (I'm really sorry if this is seems like a rant. It is not.) the sex scenes. There were more intimate scenes in this book than there were in 50 shades. It got to a point that I just flipped through those things because I got too tired of them.

Like I said though, even if this review seems harsh, I somehow still liked the book. This book talks about serendipity. And I think at one point in our lives we've asked ourselves, "Will I ever meet the one?" In my opinion, this book's message is this, "No matter where you are now, no matter what situation you are in, no matter who you're with, if the person who's meant for you is out there, you will find your way to each other." That's my take on it, at least. I also liked how in this book, the expressions "Boys will be boys" came to mind. Why? There were a lot of guy talk, and that was quite realistic, because who wouldn't want to flaunt a woman who's as perfect as Julie? D-cups, fine ass, angelic face, killer clothes. I'm a woman and even I want to tap that.

SUMMARY:
Unfortunately, I can only give 3 stars to the first installment of the Inevitable series. However, I can promise you that the second book will be so much better. Can't wait!

Title: Splendor (Inevitable #2)
Author: Janet Nissenson
Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Publication Date: June 17, 2014
Published by: Bookbaby
Source: Copy Given by Author and Tour Organizer

My review for the first installment in the Inevitable series is not that colorful, but rest assured that I'll be back to my usual loving self here on Splendor...because I liked it. *smiles*

SYNOPSIS:
British hotelier Ian Gregson had it all – wealth, good looks, power, and a share in his family’s worldwide, multi-billion dollar luxury hotel chain. His very name was synonymous with sophistication and elegance, and any woman he wanted could be his with just a look. But the only woman he truly desired was strictly forbidden to him for too many reasons to count.

Tessa Lockwood was young, beautiful, and lonely, despite the fact that she was a married woman. Her life had not been an easy one, and the extravagant world she caught glimpses of as an employee of the Gregson Hotel Group was far beyond anything she could ever dream of. She could no more imagine herself ensconced in that sort of luxurious lifestyle than she could attracting the attention of her handsome, debonair boss.

Ian and Tessa secretly long for each other from afar, never daring to reveal their forbidden attraction to the other, until circumstances bring them together in a very unexpected way. And from that point on, nothing will stand in Ian’s way to finally make her his.

AUTHOR’S NOTE – despite what you might be thinking at this point, there is NO cheating in this story – just an incredibly romantic hero who will make you swoon with the way in which he sweeps the heroine off her feet!

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Ian Gregson is the poster boy for being a gentleman. He also rarely shows real emotions. But with our heroine, his detached demeanor that he has perfected over the years shatters with not much effort.

Tessa Lockwood is one of the strongest women ever. She conquered every bad thing that has happened to her, and came out strong. She's loyal, hard-working, and dependable. She felt for Ian what she never really felt in her marriage...true love.

REVIEW:
I liked this book SO much more than Serendipity. So sorry, but that one was just too much for me. Splendor however, I loved the characters. Tessa didn't cheat on her husband no matter how strong the pull is between her and her boss, the husband is also a genuinely good person who helped Tessa through everything, and Ian was just...Brilliant! He does everything to make our heroine feel like a princess, because for him, she deserves nothing less. The childhood (and early adulthood) of Tessa was heartbreaking yet completely believable that I felt my heart breaking for her. If I were our billionaire, I would also spoil her rotten. She's such a wonderful person that she doesn't even curse the life that has been handed to her. She just accepts it and tries to survive. I guess I just really like a good sob story. That point has been proven again during tragic parts in this book. (Whatever those are, I won't share. You need to read the book. *smiles sweetly*)

As usual there were a lot of sex in this book, making it that much longer than it should be. But hey! All the more for other people. I just sort of flipped through those scenes because I was more interested in the story.

SUMMARY:
4 stars goes to Splendor, and these are stars well-earned. Unfortunately, to fully enjoy this you have to read part 1. Once again I apologize to the author and the fans for my less than enthusiastic reaction towards it.

Title: Shattered (Inevitable #3)
Author: Janet Nissenson
Genre: Romance, Contemporary, Erotica
Publication Date: May 5, 2015
Source: Copy Given by Author and Tour Organizer

This is my favorite among the three books, hands-down. From the first few pages, I knew that I would enjoy Shattered. And I was right!! Eeep! Can't wait to share it with you.

SYNOPSIS:
The Ghost

Angela Del Carlo has been living half a life, ever since he walked out on her, shattering her entire existence and leaving her to cope with picking up the fragments. Nothing seems to matter much anymore, and her life is a drab existence of work, run, repeat. She’s forgotten how to laugh, how to love, and even how to live. Most days she’s little more than a ghost.

The Devil

Nick Manning’s life has been one lived without compromise, without rules, and without regrets. Except for his one weakness, his one regret – Angela. What he did to her still tugs at his conscience, still fills him with remorse, and continues to haunt his dreams. But he stays away, knowing that he can never be the man she needs or give her what she deserves.

The Angel

But when fate intervenes and Angela’s and Nick’s paths cross again, she’s determined not to surrender her soul to the devil ever again, while he’s desperate to have his angel back in his arms – even if it means changing the rules to get it done.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Nick Manning is a giant (literally) ass. He's a hot, dominant ass. He's probably the best broker in all of California, but it doesn't change the fact that he should be stoned to death for what he did to our dear lady.

Angela Del Carlo used to be a strong, confident woman. Until Nick broke her. For four years, she was nothing but a shell. A running-until-she-can't-anymore shell. But when she was just starting to feel something again, her nightmare had to resurface.

REVIEW:
Shattered is simply wonderful. There were many factors that played a part in its awesomeness, so let me break it down.

The sex:

Yes, I wasn't fond of it in the first two books, but this one is different. First, the wildness of the scenes actually fit the characters. They were both strong, as well as one obviously dominant and the other appreciates being told what to do. Second, there weren't as much sex here as there were in the Serendipity and Splendor, so I wasn't too overwhelmed by it.

The story:

Can anyone say dramatic? I loved how Angela became broken. Not because I wanted to see her suffer, but because it turned her into a stronger woman who knows what she wants. Though I would've appreciated it if Nick suffered as well. It seemed like he had it too easy, and that upsets me.

Lauren:

I can't wait for her own book. CAN'T WAIT! I've only caught glimpses of her in this series, and I want more. She's probably the character I'll be able to relate to the most.

SUMMARY:
I give Shattered 4.5 stars, not 5 because like I said, it felt like Nick didn't even have to try all that hard to win Angela back. Given that he took her life away. He deserved more hardships. But aside from that I liked the third installment in the series. I recommend this.

P.S. Lauren's story PLEASE!!!
