ARA'S NOTE:
I've put off reading More than Water for a couple of weeks now. Why? I don't know. What I do know is that I regret not reading it earlier because I LOVED IT. It is definitely included in my favorite list, no matter if I don't have a physical one, but it would forever be in my mind and heart. There are so many reasons why I fell hard for this book, this story, and this author. Let me share them to you...

SYNOPSIS:

EJ Cunning, an art history major, dates musicians. Foster Blake, a chemical engineering major, can’t sing a tune. They’re not each other’s type. They’re coworkers.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Evelyn "EJ" Cunning has balls, no filter, and is a true blue artist. She's quipped with lots of humor, sarcasm, and such genius comebacks that she makes such an impression upon first meeting. She has a passion for art, but she's confused as to what she should do next. Social expectations and family obligations are the rocks tied to her feet, dragging her down the water, and all she really wants is to be free and happy.

 Foster "Fozzie" Blake is a genius with layers rivaling that of an onion. He's emotionally unavailable and is not capable of trusting another woman because of a past that cut him deeply. He knows what he wants in life and seeks out to get it...if only he can conquer his fear.

TO LOVE:
Where to begin? Oh I know, the break up scene! 
"Nice to meet you. I hope you don’t mind giving my boyfriend a blow job tonight for me. You can even fuck him if you like. It’s up to you.” I lift my wrist, pretending to check the time on my nonexistent watch. 
“I suddenly have other plans, and I wouldn’t want him to go without ejaculating for a period of time. He obviously couldn’t wait for my return, so you would be doing him and me a great service."
Who handles a situation like that? My girl, that's who! (Yep! EJ is now officially my gal.) I loved the book as a whole, but I got to admit, Evelyn is what really got me hooked. I've always been a sucker for female leads who can hold their own, has a funtastic arsenal of witty comebacks, and doesn't act all shy and coy. She knows who she is and is a strong believer of the saying, "If you don't like me for who I am, then that is your loss." Okay, maybe that's not exactly how it went, but that's basically the gist of it. I truly connected with EJ. We both have to act like two different people when we're with family and with the rest of the world. Only difference is, my family is much more supportive and really shows me that they love me. But the sense of responsibility, doing what's best for the family, being lady-like...oh yeah. We got that going for us. We both have zero filter as well. We say what we think and we mean it. We won't change the way who we are just so you'll like us. Nuh-uh, we'd rather stand up, walk away, and find other lucky people to grace with our awesomeness. She's also very passionate, wild (in a good way), and artistic. Exploring and stepping outside of her comfort zone doesn't scare her, and she my have a few friends, but they're perfect for her. I felt so in sync with EJ that about 1/8 in the story, I said, "Fu** it, I'm going to imagine I'm her. We're basically the same person anyway." Total book soul-sister moment.

 Foster is a really cool guy. For a nerd, he's very...extraordinarily HOT. I'm actually into guys like him; smart, kind of geeky, can keep up with verbal war, easy on the eyes, a gentleman, and with a sense of humor. Did I mention he's amazing in the sack? According to EJ that is. Their banter is entertaining as hell, and I will re-read it over and over again just so I can be sharper when it comes to verbally abusing a person.

 The story itself was amazing and there were events that which made me wonder how that freaking happened. We get to see both Evelyn and Fozzie grow into better people, and with their chemistry being what it is, they're just...explosive!!

TO BLEH:
What kind of ending was that? That could not have possibly be it. There's got to be more! An extended version perhaps, or a story that is written from Foster's POV perhaps. We just really need more. It didn't give us the closuere that we needed.

 SUMMARY:
10 out of 5 stars for More than Water. I am not exaggerating, I just really loved it that much. It was beautifully written, the characters were all interesting, story was engaging from beginning to end, and the romance was simply...marvelous. I need more! I recommend this HIGHLY, and chances are I'll be reading it again. You'll enjoy this for sure everybody.

Renee Ericson is the author of the These Days series.
Originally from the Midwest, she now resides in a small town just outside of Boston with her husband and three children.
