Review of No Kissing Allowed by Melissa West

I have to be completely honest here; I did not find the blurb appealing. At all. It gives off a very generic and excessively common vibe, like thousands of other romance books out there. However, due to the fact that, lately I have been proven wrong about my presumptions about books, stories, and what not, I decided not to jump into any conclusions until I read and finish No Kissing Allowed. So, I requested for a last minute copy from the publisher through NetGalley, got approved, and started reading it. I'm going to share my thoughts about it with you in a little bit.

SYNOPSIS:

Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York's biggest ad agency. Her last task?  Hook up with a random guy. And while it's so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details.

At least, that was the plan.

On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt her new boss's boss. Talk about failing the no fraternizing with coworkers policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning.

Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes the only way to get what you want is by breaking a few rules...

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Cameron Lawson is a driven and ambitious young woman, who wants to prove her independence. She wants to succeed--in anything--knowing that she did so because of her hardwork. On the outside, she appears tough and confident, but in reality, she has fears that most people wouldn't understand. Love, stability, and a family--these are the things she wants in life. Will she be able to have them though?

Aidan Truitt is the perfect guy. Well, almost. He doesn't do love, relationships, and most definitely don't see himself having a family. His father helped turn his emotions off when it comes to women...except for one. He wants to stick with what he knows and what he should do, but the thing is, he also wants to experience a warm and welcoming home. Will he be able to conquer his fears before it takes away the best thing in his life?

REVIEW:

No Kissing Allowed is such a well-written book, in my opinion. The approach Melissa West took totally worked for me; romantic with lots of humor. She already had me grinning 5 pages in! The story is quite predictable, like what I expected, but it was still very interesting. The passion between the two wasn't explosive, or anything like that, but you can definitely feel their chemistry through their dialogue and actions. Especially when it comes to Aidan; he's the one who started setting up ground rules for them, namely the "no emotions involved" one, and yet he asks Cameron to do things that will eventually lead her into falling for him--which she did! The book's ending left me wanting more. However, there's actually special instructions on the last page for readers who wish to get an extra scene or something. So, I guess I'll be doing that.

SUMMARY:

I really liked No Kissing Allowed. It's a fast-paced, romantic, and humorous book that will have you swooning from the dialogue. It's a light read with not a lot of drama, so I recommend this to all romance genre fans.
